Manchester United have reiterated that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be sold this summer following rumours that the forward could join Chelsea.

The speculation stared when it was revealed that new Blues owner Todd Boehly had met with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, last week and the 37-year-old had been discussed.

The ex-Real Madrid man was heavily linked with a shock move to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, although it now appears that The Red Devils are confident of keeping their talisman.

As per Sky Sports, United are confident that Ronaldo will remain with the club for at least one more season; the Portugal international’s contract is set to expire next summer.

Ronaldo will be 38-years-old by the time his United contract expires next summer

Having returned to United 12 years after originally departing, Ronaldo scored 24 goals and finished as the Red Devils’ top scorer across all competitions last season.

New United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the player is part of his plan for next season, and Ronaldo himself stated that he would play for the club next season earlier this month.

Ten Hag is plotting a summer rebuild of the United squad, with Frenkie de Jong and Brazilian winger Antony both at the top of the Dutchman’s wishlist.
