Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have struggled so far this season and have already been knocked out of the Champions League, meaning they must finish in the Premier League’s top four if they are to guarantee themselves a place in the competition next term.

Manager Erik ten Hag will have been frustrated by his side’s inconsistencies so far this season, with United having already lost nine times in the league.

With the January transfer window now in full swing, Ten Hag will be keen to bolster his squad this month, but it appears that the Red Devils are lining up a huge move for the upcoming summer window.

According to Football Insider, United are interested in Royal Antwerp starlet Arthur Vermeeren.

The report claims that the Manchester side are laying the groundwork for a summer move for the 18-year-old central midfielder.

Vermeeren could leave Antwerp this summer

Vermeeren is a product of Royal Antwerp’s youth academy and has already made 65 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.

The two-time Belgium international has already played 40 times in the Belgian top flight, as well as featuring in all six of his side’s Champions League group stage games this season.

It is claimed that United are ‘all over’ the teenager and are hoping to sign him at the end of the season, although Vermeeren would reportedly cost as much as £50 million.

The deal would reportedly consist of an initialy payment of £25 million, plus an additional £25 million if certain add-ons were met.

United are said to be in regular contact with the player’s representatives ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

As well as the Red Devils, several other top clubs from around Europe are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
