Manchester United face Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series in Chicago on Thursday morning.

Ruben Amorim’s side defeated West Ham United in the opening match of the series, and will later face Everton in their final game.

The Portuguese is under pressure to oversee improvement in his side this term, after a disastrous campaign last season.

United finished 15th in the Premier League table and therefore won’t compete in Europe this time around, and those in charge of the club have already been busy in the transfer market so far this summer.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have both arrived at Old Trafford, but it now appears that United are chasing an England international.

According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils could move to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope if the Magpies complete the signing of Aaron Ramsdale.

United’s current ‘keeper, Andre Onana, has struggled ever since arriving in Manchester from Inter Milan two years ago.

The Cameroonian has made a number of high profile errors and the report claims that Amorim is keen to strengthen his goalkeeping options this summer.

Newcastle are expected to complete the signing of Ramsdale from Championship Southampton, and the report claims that could put Pope’s position at St. James’ Park under threat.

The England international is contracted to Newcastle until the end of the upcoming season and, at 33, he fits the profile of experienced player that United are hoping to sign.

Pope joined the Magpies from Burnley back in 2022 and has since played 95 times for the North East giants across all competitions, keeping 35 clean sheets and conceding 93 goals.

Both Pope and Ramsdale will want to play regularly in the coming months in order to maximise their chances of being selected for the England squad for next summer’s World Cup in the United States.
