Manchester United travel to Merseyside to face Everton when the Premier League returns after the international break.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the season – losing nine of 18 matches across all competitions – but are the only side in the English top flight to have won four of their past five games in the competition.

At present, Erik ten Hag’s side sit sixth, seven points behind leaders Manchester City.

Now, though, it appears that United are monitoring one of the Premier League’s most talented young players.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester club are continuing to monitor Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson ahead of a potential move in the near future.

The 19-year-old signed a new contract last week which is set to run until the summer of 2029, but the report claims that United remain interested in the teenager.

Ferguson has attracted interest from Manchester United

Ferguson joined the Seagulls from Irish side Bohemians back in 2021 and broke into the first team last season.

In total the Irishman has made 43 appearances for Brighton across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists.

His new contract is said to have made Ferguson one of the club’s highest earners, but it hasn’t deterred interest from United who are said to be ‘huge admirers’ of the Ireland international.

United signed Rasmus Hojlund from Italian side Atalanta over the summer, but the Dane is yet to score in the Premier League and it appears that those in charge of the club are intent on bolstering Ten Hag’s front line in the near future.

As well as the Red Devils, several clubs from across Europe are also said to be interested in Ferguson, who has been capped eight times by the Republic of Ireland at senior international level.
