Manchester United will host Everton when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Ruben Amorim’s side have improved significantly of late, winning three consecutive league games before 2-2 draws against both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils now sit seventh in the top flight table, and Amorim will be pleased with his side’s progress after a relatively disastrous first 12 months in charge at Old Trafford.

Amorim will also be pleased by the recent performances of summer signings Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens and Bryan Mbeumo, with the latter named Premier League Player of the Month for October.

Now, though, it has emerged that United are contemplating an audacious move to re-sign one of their former players.

As per CaughtOffside, Man United are one of several Premier League sides showing interest in Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scotland international departed Old Trafford to join Napoli in 2024, having made more than 250 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions but never really established himself as a regular starter.

Since moving to Naples, he has recreated himself and proved to be one of the most influential players in the Italian top flight.

Last term, the Scot made 34 appearances in Serie A as Napoli won the top flight title, and the midfielder was later named Serie A Player of the Season and was also nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

As well as Man United, both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also said to be worth keeping an eye on as interest in the player hots up.

Spanish champions Barcelona are also said to view the Scottish star as a player that could fit into their midfield.

Despite significant interest from elsewhere, the report claims that McTominay is happy in Naples, and the Serie A champions have no interest in allowing the player to depart the club any time soon.
