France are preparing to face Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday, with Les Bleus looking to become the first holders in 60 years to retain their title.

Didier Deschamps’ side have been in good form en route to the final, but they face an Argentina team spearheaded by Lionel Messi.

Messi and his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe are still vying for the Golden Boot award, with the two players level on five goals each so far, although the former has registered one more assist than his French counterpart and is therefore currently in the lead.

The pair have both been in sensational form and are also contenders for the Golden Ball award, given to the tournament’s best player, although one of Mbappe’s France teammates is also being touted for the accolade.

Antoine Griezmann has thrived in a deeper role for France at the World Cup, and it appears that his performances have attracted the interest of Manchester United.

According to MediaFoot via SportsMole, The Red Devils are considering a move for the 31-year-old attacker.

Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid in 2014 and an impressive run of form for the Spanish side secured him a move to Barcelona five years later, for a fee of more than £100 million.

Griezmann has been in fine form for France at the World Cup

He spent two years in Catalunya, before returning to Atletico on loan, although a permanent deal has now been agreed that will be made official at the end of the current season.

United are set to be in the market for a forward when the January transfer window opens as they look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club last month.

Griezmann has been deployed in a deeper role for both club and country of late, but his record of six goals and five assists so far this term proves that his attacking ability remains intact.

For Barcelona, Griezmann netted 35 goals in 107 matches, as well as providing 17 assists.

The forward has provided three assists for France in Qatar so far, and he has been regarded by many as one of the most impressive players at the tournament.

The report also claims that United were interested in the Frenchman over the summer, and have previously shown an interest on a number of occasions, including in 2017 when the player was impressing during his first spell with Atletico.
