Manchester United travel to London to face Brentford on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and find themselves nine points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa in the race to qualify for the Champions League next term.

Erik ten Hag will be desperate to see his side pick up three points against the Bees, who have struggled in recent months and become embroiled in the relegation scrap.

Off the pitch, it appears that United are considering a move for a Tottenham Hotspur star.

As per Tottenham News, United would ‘bite Tottenham’s hand off’ to sign centre-back Micky van de Ven if the defender was made available this summer.

The Dutchman joined Spurs from German club Wolfsburg last summer for an initial fee in the region of £35 million, although it could rise to nearer £43 with potential add-ons.

Van de Ven has impressed during his debut season in England

He has since impressed for Ange Postecoglou’s side, although injuries have hampered him.

In total the Dutchman has played 20 times this season, and Spurs’ form has largely improved when the central defender has been in the side.

The 22-year-old has formed an impressive partnership alongside Cristian Romero, although he has missed ten league games through injury.

The Dutchman is contracted to the Lilywhites until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, which puts the North London outfit in a commanding position.

Unitee could be in the market for defensive reinforcements with doubts over the futures of both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, meanwhile, have both struggled with injuries this season which could prompt the club’s owners to move for defensive reinforcements when the window reopens.
