Manchester United technical director Darren Fletcher was at The Hawthorns on Monday evening to watch Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.

The Red Devils have been in search of attacking reinforcements all summer and their need for more signings was only made clearer by their opening day defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

With that in mind, Fletcher was sent to watch Senegal international Sarr, and the Hornets man didn’t disappoint.

Sarr scored a remarkable goal against West Brom on Monday

The 24-year-old opened the scoring with a spectacular effort from his own half, catching Baggies goalkeeper David Button off his line.

The strike is certain to be a contender for goal of the season, and may also have had an even more significant impact with the Red Devils now considering a move for the player, according to The Mail.

Sarr was impressive during his two seasons in the Premier League, scoring ten goals and providing eight assists in 50 matches in the competition.

He has 25 goals in 19 assists in 94 games for the Hornets in total, but they would likely be extremely reluctant to sell the player as they look to secure a return to the top flight at the first time of asking.
