Manchester United are back in action on Sunday when they face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

The Red Devils emerged victorious last time out against Aston Villa, with Scott McTominay’s late goal earning Erik ten Hag’s side an important win.

Victory over the Villans meant United stay sixth in the Premier League table and remain in the chase for a top four spot.

Now, though, it appears that the Manchester outfit are plotting a sensational double swoop for two Bundesliga stars.

As per The Manchester Evening News, Man United are eyeing moves for Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba.

The pair have both been instrumental to Leverkusen’s success so far this term, with Xabi Alonso’s side currently top of the Bundesliga table and unbeaten across all competitions.

Both players featured in a thrilling 3-0 victory over reigning champions and title challengers Bayern Munich on Saturday – with Frimpong on the scoresheet – but their impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Frimpong has emerged as a target for Manchester United

Frimpong, 23, is a former Manchester City academy star and joined Leverkusen from Scottish giants Celtic in 2021.

The full-back has made more than 120 appearances for his current side in total, and has primarily been deployed in a more advanced role so far this season.

Tapsoba, meanwhile, has made more than 160 appearances for Leverkusen since joining the German club from Portuguese side Vitoria in 2020.

The central defender recently represented Burkina Faso at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Those in charge of United’s recruitment are reportedly keen to bolster Ten Hag’s defensive options this summer, with the Dutchman having rotated his backline very regularly this season.

Injuries to the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, as well as inconsistent form of some players, have prompted Ten Hag to name a number of different back four iterations.
