Manchester United are eyeing up a sensational mega money move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to The Sun.

The 28-year-old has once again had an excellent season at the Etihad Stadium, netting 31 goals in just 42 games for Pep Guardiola’s side, 18 of which have come in the Premier League, yet the arrival of Gabriel Jesus has thrown his future at the club into doubt.

The former Atletico Madrid striker was restricted to the substitute’s bench back in January when Jesus made his mark in English football, although Aguero did return to the starting eleven when the Brazil international sustained a broken leg in their win at Bournemouth in February.

And now Aguero looks set for a spell on the sidelines after hobbling off in their 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough last weekend, and that may well be the last time he turns out for City given that neighbours and bitter rivals United are reportedly looking to land the 28-year-old this summer.

Mourinho’s men have been overly reliant on Zlatan Ibrahimovic to bag the goals this term, with the Swedish forward scoring 28 times in all competitions, but with the 35-year-old set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines with injury, the United boss is turning his attentions to another Premier League goal machine.

United will simply have to score more goals and kill more times off next term as that is a chief reason why they sit outside the top four, and indeed weren’t able to sustain a Premier League title challenge this season.

Having a striker like Aguero would certainly go some way to improving their fortunes in front of goal, and thus helping them compete with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham at the top of the league next term.
