Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways when they host Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

United have endured a dismal start to the new campaign and sit 14th in the Premier League table having won just two of their seven games in the competition so far.

Manager Ten Hag once again finds himself under pressure, just months after seemingly saving his job by guiding to United to victory over rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Off the pitch, United are on the hunt for a new left-back, and it appears that a Chelsea player is their top target.

According to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils have made Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell their top target as they search for a new left-back.

The Englishman has played just once for the Blues far this season having been told by head coach Enzo Maresca over the summer that he wasn’t part of his plans.

Chilwell has been linked with a shock move to rivals Manchester United

Chilwell failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge, and his only appearance of the campaign so far came against League Two side Barrow in the Carabao Cup third round.

The England defender – who has also fallen out of favour at international level – is therefore expected to leave Chelsea when the transfer window reopens in January, and United are said to be considering a move.

United are also believed to be monitoring Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, who is in the final year of his contract, but Spanish giants Real Madrid are currently in pole position to land the Canadian.

Benfica’s Álvaro Carreras – who left United over the summer – is named as another potential target for the Red Devils, who are believed to have a buy-back clause of around £16.6 million.

Fulham’s Antonee Robinson is another potential target for the Manchester club, as they seek reinforcements in an area that has become something of a problem position for Ten Hag, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having missed the entirety of the season so far due to injury.
