Manchester United ended the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

Goals from Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Hojlund earned Erik ten Hag’s side all three points on the south coast, a result that means United finish in eighth place.

They will now turn their attention to Saturday’s FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City at Wembley, although the Citizens are overwhelming favourites to retain the trophy having beaten United in last year’s final.

Despite United ending the season strongly, Ten Hag continues to face speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

Now, it appears that the club’s bosses are set to approach a potential successor to the Dutchman.

As per Football Insider, United are preparing to make contract with Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna.

McKenna has attracted interest from other clubs after guiding Ipswich to back-to-back promotions

The 28-year-old guided the Tractor Boys back to the Premier League earlier this month, finishing as runners-up behind Championship winners Leicester City.

Having taken charge of Ipswich in December 2021, the Northern Irishman first took the club from League One to the second tier, and then reached the Premier League.

Prior to his move to Portman Road, McKenna worked on the coaching staff at Old Trafford and was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s assistant before making the switch to East Anglia.

The report claims that Ten Hag is almost certain to be sacked following next week’s FA Cup final, regardless of the result at Wembley.

McKenna is regarded as a ‘future Man United manager’ by those in charge of the club, the report claims, and he is therefore being considered in case Ten Hag is dismissed this summer.
