Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim already funds himself under pressure at Old Trafford, despite taking charge of the club less than nine months ago.

The Portuguese arrived in Manchester in November last year, leaving his role with Sporting CP to succeed Erik ten Hag.

United had endured a torrid start to the season under the Dutchman, but Amorim’s appointment didn’t have the desired effect for those in charge of the club.

The Red Devils ultimately finished 15th in the Premier League table and, despite reaching the Europa League final, suffered a humiliating defeat against Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

That means Amorim’s side won’t play in Europe this season, and the ex-Sporting boss is under increasing pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around.

In the meantime, it appears that United are continuing their pursuit of an experienced Premier League forward.

As per The Athletic, United have tabled a third off for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

The repot claims that United’s most recent offer for the Cameroon international consists of an initial fee of £65 million, plus an additional £5 million in add-ons.

Mbeumo joined the Bees from French side Troyes in 2019 and played an important role as they achieved promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

In total the 25-year-old has scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in 242 games for the West London outfit, and his impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed.

Having scored 20 times in the Premier League last season, Mbeumo has emerged as a target for Manchester United who have already failed with two separate bids to land the forward.

It is claimed that United are awaiting a response to their latest offer for Mbeumo, who is regarded by the Manchester club as their top target for this summer’s transfer window.
