Manchester United host Moldovan side Sheriff on Thursday evening, knowing that a draw will be enough to secure qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Erik ten Hag’s side currently sit second in Group E, behind leaders Real Sociedad, who they face in the final round of matches in a game that could decide who tops the group.

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training with the United first team following his exclusion from the match day squad for their game against Chelsea last week, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Portuguese will return to the starting line up.

Ronaldo has spent much of this season on the bench and it has been suggested that he will leave Old Trafford during the upcoming January transfer window.

In the meantime, United are reportedly keeping tabs on Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

According to Football Insider, The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the US international.

United are believed to have first been interested in the 23–year-old when he was playing for former club RB Leipzig.

Casemiro was signed by United over the summer

Adams joined Leeds from the German side over the summer, for a fee of around £15 million, and he has since impressed with his performances for Jesse Marsch’s struggling side.

The American has started ten of The Whites’ 11 Premier League matches so far, and played key roles in their victories over both Wolves and Chelsea earlier in the season.

Leeds could now face a battle to keep hold of the midfielder, though, with The Red Devils reportedly shortlisting the player as a potential target as they look for midfield reinforcements.

Adams, who made more than 70 appearances for New York Red Bulls and then played over 100 times for Leipzig, arrived alongside compatriot Brenden Aaronson over the summer.

The midfielder has been capped 19 times by the US national side, scoring on one occasion.

United signed central midfielders Casemiro and Christian Eriksen over the summer, but they are believed to still be on the lookout for at least one more midfielder, with Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata all having left since the end of last season.
