There are seventy three million pieces of evidence proving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the faith and trust of the Manchester United board .

The £73 million summer signing of Jadon Sancho sent United fans giddy, as they were finally given the right winger they have so desperately craved.

After two years of haggling with Borussia Dortmund, Sancho was finally unveiled as a Red Devil this week, beaming a smile as wide as the Stretford End of Old Trafford.

Soon after, Solskjaer was celebrating a three-year contract extension at the helm of the Theatre of Dreams, a bold nailing of colours to the mast for a manager who was initially bought in to steady the ship after Jose Mourinho was sacked.

The former United striker, who was once dubbed the ‘Baby Faced Assassin’, guided United to a second placed finish and a Europa League final last term.

Now, according to Marca, United are stepping up their attempts to return to the pinnacle of English football as they have agreed personal terms with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

Varane has won four Champions League titles in 11 seasons at the Bernabeu.

It is reported a deal for the World Cup winner has all been struck, with the 28-year-old just waiting for a transfer fee to be agreed between the two giant clubs.

Real reportedly want around £50 million for the France international which would take United’s summer transfer spend to over £120 million.

A right winger, a central defender, and another quality midfielder were believed to be Solskjaer’s priorities this summer, and, if Varane is signed, they will be two thirds of the way there already.
