Manchester United have enjoyed the most successful transfer window of any Premier League club so far this summer, with the acquisitions of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho enough to make them the envy of any top European club.

The announcement of the £43 million singing of Varane late on Tuesday evening was met with excitement from United fans, and takes the club’s spending this summer to over £115 million.

The Red Devils’ bold approach to the transfer market this summer will attract interest from fans of Chelsea and Manchester City, both of whom have been heavily linked with all manner of world-class talent but neither of whom have yet made a signing.

There could yet be more reason for optimism for United fans, with the likes of Kieran Trippier and Eduardo Camavinga also liked with potential moves to Old Trafford.

However, it appears that United’s priorities in the market have changed.

The Telegraph is reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side must now focus their attention on selling players, in order to raise further funds for more spending.

The long-running saga surrounding Pogba’s future could finally come to an end.

The report suggests that United’s initial budget was between £75 million and £100 million, despite the club’s first two signings taking them past that figure.

It is believed that these signings were allowed in the knowledge that players would then be sold to reduce the next spend.

Several players have been linked with moves away from United, with Paul Pogba’s future once again in the spotlight and a number of other names including Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly all expected to depart.

Youngsters Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams could also be sent out on season-long loan deals.

Despite having 12 months left on his contract, Pogba could still command a substantial fee if he were to be sold, and the same could be said to a lesser extent for Jesse Lingard, who is wanted by West Ham after impressing on loan in East London during the second half of last season.
