New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s tenure at the club started in the worst possible way on Sunday, as the Red Devils fell to defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.

United found themselves two goals down at the break courtesy of a brace from Pascal Gross, but a second half-own goal from Alexis Mac Allister wasn’t enough for them to avoid defeat at Old Trafford.

In the wake of the defeat, United have been linked with a number of players, including a controversial move for ex-West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic.

Man United have been offered the chance to sign Morata

It now appears that the Red Devils will not be pursuing the Austrian, but they have instead been offered the chance to sign former Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata.

As per ESPN, United have been offered the Spaniard’s services as Atletico Madrid look to move him on.

The player recently entered into the final 12 months of his contract in the Spanish capital, and the La Liga side are believed to be keen on selling him before the window shuts.

Morata, 29, spent each of the past two seasons on loan at Italian side Juventus, where he scored 59 goals in 184 matches.

During his time in England, he scored 24 goals in 72 games for the Blues.
