Manchester United will be hoping to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season when they face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the new campaign, winning just three of their Premier League games as well as being beaten 4-3 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag’s side were victorious last time out, though, as they beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Dutchman will be hoping that his side can begin to build some momentum by progressing past the Eagles and into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, however he will likely rotate his squad for the match and give some fringe players an opportunity.

Midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is among those that could be involved, having played the full 90 minutes of United’s win over the Clarets at the weekend.

The Morocco international has been on the edge of the first team at United for some time now, and is said to be in line for a new deal.

Mejbri could soon be in line for a new contract at Old Trafford

As per The Manchester Evening News, those in charge of the club are set to begin talks with the player over an extension to his current contract, which is due to expire next summer.

Mejbri joined the youth setup at United four years ago and has since made five senior appearances for the club.

The midfielder netted his first senior goal for the Red Devils during their 3-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this month.

He spent last season on loan at Championship side Birmingham City, making 41 appearances across all competitions.

The report claims that United will trigger a one-year extension clause in the player’s current deal before soon beginning discussions over a new deal, as they do not perceive his future to be urgent.
