Manchester United will hope to kickstart their Europa League campaign when they face Greek side PAOK on Thursday evening.

The Red Devils have drawn all three of their opening games in the group phase of the competition, against FC Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce.

Interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the only European match of his short tenure on Thursday, before Ruben Amorim begins his tenure as the club’s new head coach during the upcoming international break.

Amorim will be tasked with turning United’s fortunes around, following their worst ever start to a Premier League season under Erik ten Hag.

The Portuguese will likely want to bolster his squad when given the opportunity, and it appears that the Red Devils are chasing a Serie A star.

According to Fichajes via GiveMeSport, the Manchester outfit are plotting a move to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The report claims that United’s owners are prepared to pay as much as £75 million to land the Georgia international during the upcoming January transfer window.

Kvaratskhelia has attracted interest from Manchester United

Kvaratskhelia, 23, joined Napoli from Dinamo Batumi two years ago and has since proved himself to be one of the most useful attackers in the Italian top flight.

In total he has played 101 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 30 times and providing 28 assists.

The Georgian is contracted to his current side until 2027, but the report suggests that United are preparing to test Napoli’s resolve with a sizeable bid in January.

United have spent heavily on attacking signings over the past few years, with the likes of Antony, Rasmussen Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee all arriving at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have still struggled in attack, though, scoring just nine times in their first ten games of the Premier League season so far.

Those in charge of the club are therefore keen to bolster Amorim’s attacking options and Kvaratskhelia, who usually plays on the left but can also operate centrally, could be a viable option.
