England will face The Netherlands on Wednesday for a place in the final of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions have underperformed so far in Germany and had to rely on a penalty shoot-out victory over Switzerland on Saturday to reach the semi-finals.

Manager Gareth Southgate has been boosted by the recent return of left-back Luke Shaw, who made his first appearance of the tournament during the victory over the Swiss last time out.

Shaw impressed during his late cameo on Saturday, and Southgate will hope the Manchester United man is fit enough to start against the Dutch on Wednesday.

In the meantime, though, it appears that those in charge of United’s recruitment are plotting a sensational move for another English left-back.

As per The Mail, the Red Devils are considering a shock move for Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

Chilwell has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer

It is claimed that United are considering adding a new left-back to Erik ten Hag’s squad, in order to provide competition for England international Shaw.

Chilwell, 27, has also played regularly for England over the past few years but missed out on Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024 after missing several weeks of last season due to injury.

The full-back joined the Blues from Leicester City back in 2020 for a fee of around £45 million, but he has been plagued by injury throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell has been limited to just 106 appearances for the West London side during his four years at the club, but it appears that his worrying injury record hasn’t deterred interest from United.

His current contract with Chelsea doesn’t expire until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but Chilwell has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
