New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will use the international break to familiarise himself with his new surroundings and prepare his side for their next match.

The Red Devils play Ipswich Town at Portman Road when the Premier League returns after the international window, and Amorim will fancy his side’s chances of beating the Tractor Boys.

Amorim, 39, succeeds Erik ten Hag who was sacked last month and replaced by interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The ex-Man United forward guided the club to three wins and a draw in his time in charge, but he departed the Red Devils on Monday following Amorim’s arrival.

Amorim has brought his own staff to From Portuguese side Sporting CP to Old Trafford, and it now appears that he could soon look to re-sign one of his former players.

As per The Daily Briefing, United are considering a player-plus-cash offer for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe since joining Sporting from Coventry City last year, netting a remarkable 66 times in 68 games for the club, as well as providing 19 assists.

Gyokeres scored an incredible 66 goals in 68 games for Sporting under Ruben Amorim

He has started the new season in particularly fine form, scoring 23 times in eight games including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.

CaughtOffside claims that United are plotting an offer for the Sweden international that would see Joshua Zirkzee move in the opposite direction.

United signed Zirkzee from Italian side Bologna during the recent summer transfer window, but the Dutchman has failed to score since netting on his debut on the opening night of the season.

Gyokeres is contracted to Sporting until the end of the 2027/28 season, but he is expected to leave the Portuguese capital prior to that date.
