Man United pushing hard to sign Bundesliga star at cut price

Manchester United face a potentially tricky test when they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. 

The Red Devils have endured a difficult season so far, particularly in the Champions League, while slender victories have masked their troubles domestically.

United were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park last time out, though, and they now face a Blues side that have shown significant improvement in recent weeks.

In the meantime, it appears that the Manchester club are set to go all out to sign a Bundesliga star when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to Football Insider, both the Red Devils and Newcastle are set to make an attempt to sign Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy in the new year.

The 27-year-old has been in sensational form so far this season, scoring 17 goals in 12 matches across all competitions.

He has been particularly impressive in the Bundesliga, having netted 16 times in 11 games.

Guirassy has started the new season in fine form

The striker only joined Stuttgart permanently during the recent summer window, having spent last season on loan at the club from French side Rennes.

When joining the German club he signed a contract until 2026, but the report claims that the deal includes a release clause set at just £15 million, which could prompt English sides to pounce.

One potential obstacle for Premier League clubs interested in signing Guirassy could be the fact that the striker is set to represent Guinea at the African Cup of Nations in the new year, but the report suggests that neither Man United nor Newcastle are deterred by that issue.

Fellow Premier League side Fulham are also said to be interested in signing Guirassy, but they could miss out to the Red Devils or the Magpies in the race to land the prolific forward.
