Manchester United are reportedly interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, and the Catalan club are willing to sell the Dutchman for the right price.

According to El Chiringuito, the La Liga side are prepared to let De Jong leave for a fee in the region of £58 million, despite paying nearly £75 million for him less than three years ago.

The 24-year-old joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019, having starred for the Dutch side during their run to the Champions League semi-finals.

He has been a regular in midfield for the Spanish side since, making 136 appearances for the club across all competitions.

In that time, the Dutch international has scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists.

United have identified the payer as a candidate to replace Paul Pogba, who is expected to depart the club when his contract expires this summer.

Incoming United boss Erik Ten Hag will be on the hunt for at least one central midfielder, and De Jong has emerged as one of his top targets.

Rashford could be offered to Barcelona

The English side are preparing a swap deal, though, that would see both Marcus Rashford and Alex Telles move in the opposite direction, according to Fichajes.

Ten Hag will reportedly be handed a sizeable budget during his first summer in charge of the club, but it appears they are unwilling to meet Barcelona’s demands over De Jong, and will instead attempt to agree a player swap deal.

Telles has acted as the club’s second choice left-back behind Luke Shaw for much of his time in Manchester, but he has played in seven of their last eight Premier League matches.

Rashford, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a move away from United in recent months.

The England international has been out of form of late, having scored just five goals across all competitions this season.

His below-par performances have stirred rumours that he will be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, and it now appears that he is being considered as part of a deal to bring De Jong to Manchester.
