Manchester United reached the FA Cup semi-finals with a thrilling 4-3 win over rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

The Red Devils went ahead through Scott McTominay, before two quick goals by Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah turned the game on its head and put the visitors ahead.

United then drew level late on at Old Trafford through Antony, sending the game to extra-time.

Harvey Elliot put the Reds back in front in extra-time, before United once again drew level courtesy of Marcus Rashford.

The tie looked to be heading for a penalty shoot-out, until substitute Amad Diallo’s dramatic late goal send United through and sparked jubilation in the home end at Old Trafford.

Manager Erik ten Hag has an impressive record in domestic cup competitions since taking charge of United, having guided his side to the finals of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last term.

This summer, those in charge of United’s recruitment will look to bolster his backline, but it appears that they could have to pay a sensational fee to land their top target.

Branthwaite has emerged as a target for Manchester United

As per TEAMtalk, Everton could demand as much as £80 million for centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

The report claims that the Red Devils are extremely interested in the Englishman, who received his first call up to the Three Lions squad last week.

Despite their interest, United could have to spend a significant amount of money to lure Branthwaite, 21, to Old Trafford.

The Toffees are said to be using Manchester United’s £80 million move for Harry Maguire and Chelsea’s £75 million move for Wesley Fofana as bookmarks for Branthwaite’s valuation.

Having joined Everton from boyhood club Carlisle United in January 2020, Branthwaite has since spent time on loan at both Blackburn Rovers and Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

He returned to Goodison Park last summer and has established himself as a regular for Sean Dyche’s side this term, making 31 appearances across all competitions.
