Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be working hard behind the scenes to ensure his side improve after the international break.

The Dutchman’s side have failed to impress so far this season, winning four and losing four of their eight Premier League games.

United have also relied on late comebacks to beat both Nottingham Forest and Brentford, with two goals in added time needed to defeat the Bees last time out.

When the Premier League returns, United will travel to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, before a potentially crucial Champions League tie against Danish side FC Copenhagen.

In the meantime, reports suggest that those in charge of the club have made a decision on the future of one of their attackers.

Martial’s only goal so far this season came against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup

According to Football Insider, United have decided that it is the right time for striker Anthony Martial to leave the club.

The Frenchman joined United from Ligue 1 side Monaco eight years ago but, after making an instant impact in Manchester, he has struggled for form and fallen out of favour over the past few seasons.

Martial, 27, has started just 15 Premier League matches since the start of the 2021/22 campaign, and United are therefore willing to let him leave in the coming months.

With less than a year remaining on his current deal, Martial is said to be unwilling to carry on playing a bit-part role at the club.

United signed fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund from Italian outfit Atalanta over the summer, which has further reduced Martial’s first team opportunities so far this term.

The report also claims that United have a number of options available if they do look to offload the France international, who is said to earn around £250,000-per-week at present.
