Manchester United face French side Lens in their penultimate pre-season friendly on Saturday.

So far this summer, the Red Devils have beaten Arsenal but lost to Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Wrexham – although manager Erik ten Hag selected a youthful side for the game against the League Two club.

Regardless, Ten Hag will be keen to ensure that his side finish their pre-season preparations strongly with victory over Lens and Athletic Bilbao in their final two matches before the start of the Premier League season.

United have signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana so far this summer, while a number of fringe players have departed Old Trafford, including Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga.

One player that looks likely to leave before the transfer window slams shut is midfielder Donny van de Beek, and it appears that the Dutchman has now attracted interest from a Champions League club.

As per 90min, Spanish side Real Sociedad have made an offer to sign the midfielder on loan for the upcoming season.

Van de Beek has struggled with injuries throughout his time in Manchester

The report claims that the La Liga side have submitted an offer that would include an option-to-buy clause, potentially offering the player a way out of his nightmare spell at Old Trafford.

Van de Beek, 26, joined United from Dutch side Ajax back in 2020 after impressing in Amsterdam, but he has so far struggled in Manchester.

In total, the midfielder has made just 60 appearances across all competitions over the course of three seasons, partly due to injury but also as a result of being snubbed by managers – previously Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, and now Ten Hag.

In January 2022, Van de Beek was sent on loan to fellow Premier League side Everton, but the Netherlands international’s time at Goodison Park didn’t go to plan either.

In total he made just seven appearances for the Toffees after suffering from a thigh injury shortly after joining the club.

Van de Beek is said to be keen on the idea of a move to Spain, while United are keen to move the player on in order to free up squad space and lower their wage bill before moving for Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.
