Brighton and Hove Albion piled further misery on Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, beating The Foxes 5-2 to extend their run of games without a win to six.

Brendan Rodgers’ side went ahead within the first minute at The Amex, but ultimately fell to a thumping defeat at the hands of the high flying Seagulls.

Alexis Mac Allister stole the show, scoring a penalty and a stunning free kick having already had a thunderbolt ruled out due to offside with the score at 2-2.

Moises Caicedo also netted his first goal of the season as he continued his fine run of form of late.

The Ecuador international has been one of the Premier League’s most in form midfielders over the past six months, and was linked with a number of clubs during the recent summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, though, Manchester United missed out on the chance to sign the midfielder before he joined Brighton.

Caicedo scored Brighton’s second goal against Leicester on Sunday

It is claimed that United rejected the chance to sign Caicedo when he played for former club Independiente del Valle.

The report states that United walked out on talks over a move for the player, who was available for just £4.5 million at the time.

The Red Devils had scouted the youngster and were believed to be in pole position to land the then-teenager, but their withdrawal from discussions left Brighton to step in and sign the player.

The 20-year-old joined Brighton in February 2021, but was sent out on loan to Belgian side Beerschot last summer, before returning to his parent club in January.

He then went on to make 10 appearances for The Seagulls during the second half of last season, establishing himself as a regular in Graham Potter’s side.

The departure of Yves Bissouma to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer also appears to have benefitted the Ecuadorian, who has started all six of Brighton’s league matches so far this season.
