Ruben Amorim will take charge of Manchester United for the first time when they visit Ipswich Town later this month.

The Portuguese was appointed as the Red Devils’ head coach following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, and he arrives in England as one of Europe’s most highly-rated young managers.

The 29-year-old guided Sporting CP to two Portuguese top flight titles during his time in Lisbon, and he will hope to win silverware at Old Trafford.

In the meantime, it has emerged that United are still interested in an England international.

As per GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are still interested in Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

The former Blackburn Rovers man has been a target for the Manchester side for some time now, making a number of offers for the player last summer, and the report suggests that Amorim’s arrival hasn’t changed that.

Branthwaite remains a target for Manchester United

Branthwaite, 22, joined the Toffees from Blackburn three years ago and, following a loan spell with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, he is now regarded as one of the best central defenders in the league.

In total the Englishman has played 58 times for Everton across all competitions, but he has been limited to just four appearances so far this term due to a groin injury.

Branthwaite’s contract with the Merseyside outfit is set to expire in the summer of 2027, but the report claims that United could attempt to prise the defender away from Goodison Park before then.

Last summer, when United had bids rejected for the defender, Everton were said to value the player at around £80 million.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Toffees’ valuation of Branthwaite has changed as he moves nearer to the expiry of his deal, but the report suggests that United remain interested as they attempt to bolster Amorim’s defensive options.
