Manchester United head into the international break in 13th place in the Premier League table after a 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho netted either side of an own goal to earn Ruud van Nistelrooy a win in the final game of his interim spell in charge of the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim will now take charge of United ahead of their game against Ipswich Town after the international break, and the Portuguese’s imminent arrival at Old Trafford doesn’t appear to have deterred the club’s interest in a Norway youngster.

According to GiveMeSport, the Manchester club remain interested in Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypen.

The 17-year-old has been a target for United for some time now, and the report states that the club remain interested in the youngster despite the change of management.

Amorim will take charge of Man United during the international break

Nypen is a product of Rosenborg’s youth academy and has already played 58 times for the club at senior level.

The teenager has been linked to Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, and the report suggests that United believe he is the correct profile of player to match the team that Amorim wants to build.

Nypen is contracted to boyhood side Rosenborg until December 2026, but the Norwegian side may face a battle to keep hold of the talented youngster with United among a number of big European clubs to have been linked with the player in recent months.

It is claimed that United are currently monitoring Nypen’s situation, with those in charge of the club set to make a decision on their transfer plans next month.
