With the January transfer window now underway, clubs across Europe will be working hard to identify potential targets.

Several clubs in the Premier League will be keen to bolster their respective squads ahead of a hectic second half of the season, but they will also be wary of interest from elsewhere in their own players.

One club that look set to be busy this month is Manchester United, with manager Erik ten Hag likely to be backed in the market by new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

With that in mind, United have already started scouting players that are of interest, according to The Sun.

The report claims that the Red Devils have sent scouts to watch Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez in action.

United are said to be on the hunt for a new left-back after loanee Sergio Reguilon returned to parent club Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

Gutierrez has impressed for Girona so far this season

Gutierrez has emerged as a potential target after his sensational first half of the season with the Spanish side.

The 22-year-old has played in 18 of Girona’s 19 La Liga games so far, playing a crucial role in helping his side to sit joint top of the Spanish top flight table at present.

The full-back, who joined Girona from La Liga title rivals Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, is contracted to his current club until 2027.

He made just ten appearances during his time with Real, but has established himself as one of the division’s best left-backs since moving to Girona.

It is claimed that United had scouts in attendance at Girona’s dramatic 4-3 win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.

Their need for a left-back stems not only from the recent departure of Reguilon, but also from Luke Shaw’s poor injury record.
