Manchester United will hope to build on their victory against Chelsea last time out when they face Brentford on Saturday.

The Red Devils recorded just their second Premier League win of the season as they defeated the Blues 2-1 at Old Trafford, with both sides finishing the match with ten man after Robert Sanchez and Casemiro were both sent off.

That result lifted Ruben Amorim’s side up to 11th in the Premier League table, and the Portuguese will hope to pick up all three points against the Bees on Saturday.

In the meantime, United appear to be monitoring a Premier League defender with a view to make an offer in the new year.

As per CaughtOffside, Man United are huge admirers of Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite and are plotting a £60 million offer for the player in January.

The report claims that the Red Devils are one of four Premier League sides showing interest in the one-time England international, with fierce rivals Liverpool also among those keeping tabs on the player.

Branthwaite, 23, joined the Toffees from Carlisle United back in 2020 and has since had loan spells with Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven.

He has now played 86 times for the Merseyside club across all competitions but hasn’t featured so far this season due to injury.

Man United have previously been linked with a move for the Englishman, and the report suggests that they could reignite their interest in the player in the new year as current centre-back Harry Maguire nears the end of his contract.

Branthwaite is currently under contract at Everton until the end of the 2029/30 season, but it appear that the Toffees could face a battle to keep hold of the defender with several clubs showing interest.
