Manchester United welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils beat Liverpool 2-1 last time out and, having defeated Sunderland in the previous outing, head coach Ruben Amorim has now won successive Premier League matches for the first time since taking charge of the club in November last year.

At present United sit ninth in the top flight, but Amorim will hope to see his side progress in the coming weeks.

Ahead of the game, it has emerged that United have set aside a significant amount of money to fund two new signings.

According to Fichajes via CaughtOffside, the Manchester club have set aside around £100 million as they attempt to sign Ousmane Diomande and Oihan Sancet.

The report claims that United are keen to reunite Sporting CP defender Diomande with Amorim, with the pair having worked together in the Portuguese capital until the latter departed to take charge at Old Trafford.

Diomande, 21, has made more than 100 appearances for Sporting across all competitions, having joined the Portuguese giants from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2023.

It is claimed, though, that United will face stiff competition in the race to sign the centre-back as both Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring the Ivory Coast international.

Sancet, meanwhile, has played more than 200 times for boyhood club Athletic Club since graduating from their youth system.

The attacking midfielder has scored 43 goals and registered 18 assists in that time, and the report claims that he has now attracted interest from United.

United’s interest in Sancet is said to stem from a need to add another player to Amorim’s squad that is capable of producing attacking output, with much of that responsibility currently falling on Bruno Fernandes.

The Spaniard is under contract in Bilbao until the end of the 2031/32 campaign, though, and United may therefore struggle to lure him to Manchester.
