Manchester United host Newcastle United in the only Premier League match on Boxing Day.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in their last outing and now sit seventh in the top flight standings, although they could move into the Champions League qualification spots if they beat the Magpies and other results go their way.

Ahead of the January transfer window, it appears that United are set to miss out on one of their targets.

As per TEAMtalk, Man United target Yan Diomande is set to stay put at current club RB Leipzig beyond the end of the January window.

The report claims that United have become the latest English side to show interest in the 19-year-old, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur having all registered an interest.

It is claimed that the Red Devils made contact with the player’s representatives in recent weeks to register their interest in the winger, who is currently representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Diomande joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes over the summer and has made a fine start to life in Germany, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 games across all competitions.

It has been rumoured that the Ivorian had a release clause in his current contract – which is set to run until 2030 – but the report claims that no such clause exists.

It is therefore claimed that Leipzig are not worried about the future of the attacker, who can play on either flank or centrally.

Diomande is also said to have attracted interest from clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany, but Leipzig remain adamant that the attacker will not depart the club during the upcoming January window.
