Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will hope his side can build on their draw against Liverpool when they face Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils fought back to snatch a 2-2 draw against the Premier League leaders last time out, and they now begin the defence of their FA Cup crown with a third round tie against one of their fiercest rivals.

Amorim will hope that the result at Anfield on Sunday has buoyed his side’s confidence ahead of their trip to The Emirates.

In the meantime, it appears that United could soon be handed a huge boost.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, winger Amad Diallo is set to sign a new contract with the Red Devils this week.

Diallo, 22, scored United’s equaliser against Liverpool on Sunday to take his tally to six goals in all competitions this term.

The winger’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but Romano claims that the player has reached a full agreement with United in order to extend his deal.

He claims that the Ivorian is in line for a pay increase which will reflect his increased importance since the arrival of Amorim late last year.

Diallo has started eight of Amorim’s nine Premier League matches in charge of United, scoring twice and providing four assists.

Romano claims that all relevant documents have been finalised and checked by both parties, with the player set to put pen-to-paper on the new deal this week.

Diallo joined United from Italian side Atalanta in 2021 and has since spent time on loan at both Sunderland and Rangers.

His next appearance for United – possibly against Arsenal on Sunday – will be his 50th across all competitions.
