Manchester United winger Antony has joined Spanish side Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.

The Red Devils confirmed on Saturday that the 24-year-old had completed a loan switch to the La Liga side.

Antony joined United from Dutch side Ajax ahead of the 2022/23 campaign for a fee in excess of £80 million, following manager Erik ten Hag from Amsterdam to Manchester.

He has since struggled in England, though, scoring just 12 times and providing only five assists in 96 matches across all competitions.

Since Ruben Amorim replaced Ten Hag in November last year, the Brazilian has featured in just six of United’s 11 Premier League matches and hasn’t started a single game in the competition.

Antony has played just 14 times so far this season, with six of those appearances having been in the Europa league group phase or the early rounds of the Carabao Cup.

Antony will spend the rest of the season on loan at Spanish side Real Betis

The winger, who primarily operates on the right, was an unused substitute during United’s 2-1 win over Scottish side Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.

His current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will return to Old Trafford and force his way back into the United squad next term.

The move – which is subject to international clearance – will see Antony work under former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Seville outfit currently sit ninth in the La Liga table and are in the race to qualify for European competition next season.
