Manchester United travel to London to face West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the new campaign, winning just four of their 13 matches across all competitions.

A run of just three wins in eight Premier League games has left Erik ten Hag’s side 12th in the top flight standings, and the Dutchman will be hoping that his side can return to winning ways against the Hammers after being held to a 1-1 draw by Turkish side Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one of United’s forwards has made a decision on his immediate future.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, striker Joshua Zirkzee has no intention of leaving Manchester United during the January transfer window.

The Dutchman joined United from Italian side Bologna over the summer and enjoyed a dream start to life in England, scoring the winner against Fulham on the opening night of the Premier League season.

Since then, though, the 23-year-old has failed to score in 11 appearances across all competitions and it has been rumoured that he could leave the club, on loan at least, in the new year.

Plettenberg claims that Zirkzee believes in his own abilities despite his struggling start to life at Old Trafford.

He is therefore keen to establish himself as the club’s first choice striker, believing that he is capable of doing so.

The Dutchman scored 14 goals in 58 games for Bologna and was included in the Netherlands squad for the European Championships in Germany this summer.

Despite his fairytale start to life in Manchester, his form has since dipped and the striker hasn’t started either of United’s last two league games.

Zirkzee is contracted to United until the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
