A late brace from Scott McTominay earned Manchester United a much needed win over Brentford on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side had lost to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in their previous two home games and it looked like the Red Devils might suffer a third loss when Mathias Jensen put the Bees ahead at Old Trafford.

Despite the victory, United still sit tenth in the Premier League table going into the international break, and Ten Hag will therefore hope that his side show improvement when domestic football returns.

Between now and then, United are reportedly set to accelerate contract talks with one of their defenders.

As per Football Insider, United are set to progress negotiations with full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka’s current contract is set to expire next summer, but United do have the option to trigger a 12-month extension.

Despite this, the club are reportedly working to agree an extension to the Englishman’s contract, with the defender having established himself as a regular in recent months.

The 25-year-old joined United from fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace back in 2019 for a fee of £50 million, and he has since made 165 appearances for the club across all competitions.

During his time in London, Wan-Bissaka established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, making a total of 46 appearances for the Eagles.

When Ten Hag first arrived in Manchester, Wan-Bissaka struggled for first team opportunities, but the right-back forced his way into the Dutchman’s side towards the end of last season and started this term as United’s first choice in his position.

He was forced off injured against Brighton and Hove Albion last month, though, and hasn’t featured since.
