Manchester United remain interested in Ajax winger Antony, despite having their first bid rejected by the Dutch side.

That’s according to TalkSPORT, who claim that the Red Devils are still interested in the Brazilian and are likely to follow up their initial bid with another offer.

The first bid from United was believed to be worth around £51 million, but this was rejected by Erik ten Hag’s former side, who value the player at around £65 million.

The Dutchman is keen for a reunion with his former player, who he won the Dutch top flight title with last season.

“There have been a lot of reports that Manchester United’s interest in him is over,” said Alex Crook.

“I was under the impression last week that a move for him would only be a target if Cristiano Ronaldo was to leave.

Ten Hag is keen to sign his former player

“That may not be the case.

“I’ve had some information from a very reliable source that Manchester United are still very much looking to bring Antony to the Premier League.

“Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of his qualities and believes he can add something to his Manchester United rebuild.

“They haven’t got a specific price yet, but the price discussed over in Holland is 70 million euros, or a little bit less than that.

“But the message I’ve been given is that Antony to Manchester United is very much still on and therefore one to keep an eye on during the remainder of the transfer window.”

Antony, 22, scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season.
