Manchester United continued their good run of form on Saturday as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion 4-2.

Goals from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro put the hosts in a commanding lead at Old Trafford, before Bryan Mbeumo added a third.

Ex-United striker Danny Welbeck then pulled one back for the Seagulls, before Charalampos Kostoulas grabbed another as the visitors threatened to complete a stunning comeback.

Their hopes were short-lived, however, as Mbeumo added his second and United’s fourth to secure all three points for Amorim’s side.

The Red Devils hadn’t won three consecutive Premier League matches under Ruben Amorim until this month, but the Manchester giants have now won three consecutive games in the competition.

Off the pitch, it has now emerged that one of United’s most important players has a release clause included in his current contract.

As per BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, United captain Bruno Fernandes has a release clause set at £56.68 million in his current deal.

The journalist claims that the midfielder’s contract – which is set to run until 2027 but includes an option to extend by a further 12 months – includes a release clause that is only on offer to clubs outside of England.

Fernandes, 31, joined United from Portuguese side Sporting CP back in 2020 and made his 300th appearance for the club on Saturday.

During that time he has scored 100 goals and provided 87 assists across all competitions, but the Portugal international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

It is claimed that Fernandes is not interested in the idea of a move to Saudi Arabia, despite significant interest from Pro League clubs.

A move elsewhere in Europe would be of more interest, it is claimed, although the release clause is only available if triggered early enough.
