The Premier League returns on Friday with Manchester United hosting Fulham.

The Red Devils finished eighth in the table last term and had initially missed out on qualification for European football this term, until victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final earned them a place in the Europa League.

That win also appeared to save manager Erik ten Hag’s job, and the Dutchman has since signed a new deal with United.

The Manchester club have also bolstered their squad this summer, with the signings of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Now, though, one of his most experienced players has reportedly been told to find himself a new club.

As per Football Insider, United have instructed Christian Eriksen to find himself a move away as he is no longer a crucial part of Ten Hag’s squad.

Eriksen’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain

The veteran central midfielder recently entered into the final year of his contract with the club, and he could therefore sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign side in January.

Eriksen, 32, joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 after his contract with fellow Premier League side Brentford expired.

The Dane had previously enjoyed a successful spell with Tottenham Hotspur, before moving to Italy to join Inter Milan.

In total the midfielder has played more than 70 times for United across all competitions, scoring three times and registering 13 assists.

Last season the Denmark international played 28 times, although he was unused substitute during United’s Community Shield defeat against Manchester City on Saturday.

It is claimed that Eriksen is increasingly likely to depart Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, with clubs in both Turkey and Saudi Arabia said to be actively monitoring his situation.
