FA Cup holders Manchester United begin their defence of the trophy when they travel to face Arsenal in the third round on Sunday.

The Red Devils lifted the trophy under then-manager Erik ten Hag last term after beating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley.

The Gunners will undoubtedly provide a stern test for the Red Devils, though, in what promises to be one of the most exciting ties of the third round.

In the meantime, it has emerged that those in charge of United’s transfer dealings have made a big decision on the future of one of their youngsters.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester club are prepared to allow winger Ethan Williams to leave the club on loan this month.

The 19-year-old is a product of joined United’s academy from Rochdale five years ago and has since featured regularly for the club at both Under-18 and Under-21 level.

This month’s transfer window could be a busy one for Amorim

The report claims that the teenager’s impressive academy performances have attracted interest from Football League sides Stockport County and Leyton Orient.

Williams signed a professional contract with the Red Devils last year and has since been training with the first team at Carrington, it is claimed.

It is also suggested that United now want the teenager to gain valuable first team experience, and they have therefore decided to allow the player to depart on loan this month.

Williams primarily operates on the left flank but is also capable of playing on the right.
