FA Cup holders Manchester United face fierce rivals Arsenal in the third round on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag guided the Red Devils to the domestic cup triumph at the end of last term, defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the final despite immense pressure on the Dutchman at the time.

With Ten Hag having since been replaced by Ruben Amorim, it remains to be seen whether or not United can reach a third consecutive FA Cup final and defend their title.

Last time out Amorim saw his side draw 2-2 against leaders Liverpool in the Premier League, and the Portuguese will be hoping that his side can carry that momentum into Sunday’s match at The Emirates.

In the meantime, it appears that the Manchester club could soon be offered the chance to sign one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.

According to GiveMeSport, United are set to be given the opportunity to sign forward Jonathan David from French side Lille.

The Canada international is entering into the final six months of his contract at the Ligue 1 side, and the report claims that he has been offered to West Ham United.

David has scored more than 100 goals for Lille across all competitions

David, 24, joined Lille from Belgian side Gent in 2020 and has since scored 101 goals in 210 matches for the French side across all competitions.

He has scored 17 goals in 27 games this term, including 11 in 16 French top flight matches.

It is claimed that those in charge of United’s recruitment are contemplating signing a new striker to appease their problems in front of goal, despite splashing out significant funds on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee over the past 18 months.

David is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of France this month before departing as a free agent in the summer, but he looks increasingly likely to depart Lille before the end of the current transfer window.
