Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be hoping to see his side get their season back on track when they travel to face Fulham on Saturday.

The Red Devils have endured a disastrous start to the season, losing eight of their 15 matches across all competitions including five of ten Premier League games.

Last time out, Ten Hag’s side were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

The Cottagers, meanwhile, produced a fine display to run out 3-1 winners over Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town, setting up a quarter-final tie against Everton in December.

United could delve into the transfer market in January in an effort to solve their troubles, and it appears that Ten Hag will prioritise one position in particular.

As reported by The Mail, United will focus on signing a new striker when the transfer window reopens in January.

United will aim to sign a striker in January in a bid to help Hojlund’s development

The report claims that, although the club signed Rasmus Hojlund over the summer, those in charge are keen to sign a more experienced striker in a bid to aid the Dane’s development.

Since joining United from Italian side Atalanta over the summer, Hojlund has scored just three goals and is yet to find the net in the Premier League.

Frenchman Anthony Martial is United’s only other centre-forward at present, but the former Monaco man has been out of favour at Old Trafford for some time now and those in charge of the club are therefore keen to bolster their ranks.

United are believed to be monitoring Brentford striker Ivan Toney’s current situation, with a view to potentially making a move for the England international in January.

Toney, who is currently serving a ban for breaching betting rules, is expected to leave the Bees next year.
