Chelsea’s dismal recent record in domestic cup finals continued on Saturday, as the Blues slumped to a third successive FA Cup defeat, this time at the hands of Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have now lost five domestic cup finals in a row after their penalty shoot out loss to the Reds.

When the two sides met in February for the Carabao Cup final it was penalties that separated them after a goalless draw, and it was a similar story on Saturday.

Cesar Azpilicueta missed his spot kick and it looked like Liverpool were going to secure victory, before Edouard Mendy saved international teammate Sadio Mane’s penalty.

It went to sudden death, and Mason Mount missed the decisive spot kick before Kostas Tsimikas netted to send the red half of Wembley into chaos.

After yet another disappointing Wembley defeat, it appears that there could be more bad news on the horizon for Chelsea and Tuchel.

Kante has won six trophies with Chelsea

As per The Mirror, Manchester United have identified N’Golo Kante as a target for this summer’s transfer window.

The report claims that incoming United boss Erik ten Hag will target the Frenchman as his first signing when he arrives in England.

The Red Devils are hoping Kante can become the first signing of the Dutchman’s era, and there are likely to be a number of new singings this summer as he plans an overhaul of an underperforming squad.

The 31-year-old will enter the final 12 months of his deal with Chelsea this summer, and United are optimistic of their chances of luring him away from the capital.

The France international joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2017, and has since gone on to make more than 250 appearances for the club.

The Red Devils have also been linked with a number of other midfielders including Declan Rice, Aurelien Tchouameni and Frenkie De Jong, the latter of whom worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
