Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils, who secured their place in the last four of the competition with victory over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, will face the Premier League strugglers over two legs with a place in the final at Wembley at stake.

Erik ten Hag’s side were impressive against League One side Charlton at Old Trafford on Tuesday, with Marcus Rashford once again stealing the show with two late goals after being substituted on.

The England international’s first goal was set up by winger Facundo Pellistri, who was making his debut for United despite having joined the club in 2020.

The 21-year-old impressed during his brief cameo appearance at Old Trafford, and now United are set to discuss his future.

According to Fabrizio Romano, The Red Devils will soon talk about Pellistri’s future with his representatives.

It is claimed that United have already received loan offers for the Uruguay international, but the club are insistent on making a joint decision with the player.

Pellistri was included in the Uruguay squad for the World Cup in Qatar, despite having failed to make a senior appearance for United at the time.

Pellistri made his debut for United on Tuesday

He featured in all three of their group stage games but was unable to prevent his nation from exiting the tournament before the knockout stages.

The winger joined United from Uruguayan side Penarol in 2020 and has since spent time on loan at Spanish side Alaves, but his appearance against The Addicks marked his senior debut for United.

Across an 18-month loan spell with Alaves, Pellistri made 35 appearances for the club including 33 in the Spanish top flight.

Since returning to Old Trafford over the summer, the Uruguayan has been faced with competition for places on the right wing, with the likes of Antony, Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho all vying for the starting spot.

While United have received offers for Pellistri already, Ten Hag may decide to keep hold of the talented winger as The Red Devils face a hectic second half of the season, with games in the Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup all coming up.
