Manchester United booked their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial were all on the scoresheet as the Red Devils cruised to a comfortable victory at Old Trafford, giving Erik ten Hag’s side successive victories for the first time this season.

Next up for United is another game against Palace, this time in the Premier League, on Saturday afternoon.

In the meantime, though, it appears that Ten Hag could soon be in line for a new contract.

As per 90min, those in charge of the Manchester outfit are planning talks with the Dutchman over a potential contract extension.

The report claims that the manager has the total support of the club’s decision makers, and they will therefore look to tie him down to a long-term deal.

Ten Hag could be in line for a new contract in the coming months

Ten Hag, 53, joined United last summer and guided United to the Carabao Cup in his debut season at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax boss also secured a top four spot last term, but the Red Devils have started the new campaign inconsistently.

After six Premier League matches the club have already lost three times, as well as a 4-3 defeat to German champions Bayern Munich in their Champions League opener last week.

Off the pitch Ten Hag has also had to deal with a number of issues, most recently a public spat with winger Jadon Sancho.

England international Sancho criticised Ten Hag on social media after being left out of the squad for United’s defeat to Arsenal earlier this month, and he has since been banished from the first team indefinitely.

Ten Hag’s current contract is set to expire in 2025 but also includes an option for a further 12 months.
