Manchester United will be hoping to avoid a fifth defeat of the season when they face Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Erik ten Hag’s side have endured a difficult start to the new season having lost four times in seven Premier League games – most recently against Crystal Palace on Saturday – as well as being beaten 4-3 by Bayern Munich in the first round of European matches.

Despite his side’s poor form, the Dutchman appears to have retained the full support of those in charge of the club so far.

He will, however, be looking ahead to the upcoming January transfer window, and it appears that he will prioritise two positions in the new year.

As per Football Insider, the former Ajax man will look to sign a central midfielder and a winger when the window reopens, despite bolster in both areas during the recent summer window.

Mount was one of several summer arrivals at Old Trafford

United were busy during the summer transfer window, spending around £180 million on the likes of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana, while Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat also joined the club on loan.

Winger Jadon Sancho has been ousted from the first team at Old Trafford after a public spat with Ten Hag while Antony, who joined United from Ajax last summer, has also struggled for form of late.

The England international now faces an extremely uncertain future in Manchester, with his manager said to be demanding that he apologises before being reintegrated into the squad.

United, who currently sit 10th in the table, have also suffered with injuries to a number of key players so far this season, including new signing Mount, who joined from rivals Chelsea.
