Manchester United face another stern test when they play rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have been inconsistent this season and narrowly beat Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday, having lost 2-1 to Fulham in the Premier League last weekend.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways at The Etihad, but the Citizens have been rampant in recent weeks and will be firm favourites for the derby clash.

In the meantime, it appears that there may be more bad news ahead for United.

According to Football Insider, United will have to take a huge loss on winger Antony if they decide to sell the Brazilian this summer.

Antony joined the club from Ajax in the summer of 2022 but has endured a difficult time ever since, scoring just nine times in 71 games across all competitions.

Antony has struggled since arriving in Manchester

The winger has failed to provide a single goal or assist in the Premier League this term, and the report claims that no club in Europe or the Middle East would be willing to pay more than £40 million for the player.

United forked out a fee in the region of £80 million to sign the 24-year-old less than two years ago, but his value has dropped drastically after a string of poor performances.

The Brazil international is contracted to the Red Devils until the end of the 2026/27 season, but it appears increasingly likely that he will depart Old Trafford prior to that date.

Ten Hag was instrumental in signing Antony, having managed the winger at former side Ajax before making the move to Manchester, but his patience must be wearing thin as the player continues to struggle on the pitch.

If they can’t raise more than £40 million for Antony, United face losing more than £40 million on the Brazilian.
