Manchester United will have to pay more than £85 million if they wish to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to reports.

As per Calciomercato via FourFourTwo, the Serie A side have slapped the player with a huge price tag in an effort to deter interest during the upcoming transfer window.

The Nigerian has scored 17 goals in 30 games across all competitions so far this term, and his impressive form has seen him linked with a number of clubs from across Europe.

The 23-year-old will not come cheap, though, and Napoli have told all of the player’s potential suitors this.

Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in the ex-Lille man, but they have also been notified of the price tag.

The Red Devils will be in the market for a number of players this summer as incoming manager Erik ten Hag plots a huge overhaul, and a striker is high on his list of priorities.

Osimhen would cost United £85.5 million

Osimhen only joined the Italian side in 2020, though, and still has three years remaining on his initial deal, meaning Napoli are under no pressure to sell.

Because of this, Napoli will not consider selling the Nigeria international for less than £85.5 million, marking a healthy profit on the £67.5 million that they paid for him two years ago.

The report claims that the club are resigned to the fact that Osimhen will most likely leave at some point, but it appears that they are intent on demanding as much as possible for the striker.

United may be put off by the price tag, though, and could turn their attention to other targets as Ten Hag will have a relatively modest budget during his first transfer window in charge.
