Manchester United are enjoying themselves this transfer window.

Having already secured an agreement to sign England star Jadon Sancho, it is expected Real Madrid’s experienced defender Raphael Varane will also soon be on his way to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils finished in second place last season, their best performance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but they are still yet to win a trophy since Jose Mourinho’s first season at the Old Trafford helm in 2017.

Unfortunately for United fans, they could be set to miss out on a key transfer target as Atletico Madrid have allegedly said right-back Kieran Trippier is not for sale, according to AS.

Trippier made 35 appearances in all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season.

The 30-year-old showed his class and his versatility for England at the Euros as he was deployed at left-back, right-back and right-wing-back for the Three Lions, performing admirably every time he took to the pitch.

He also assisted Luke Shaw’s historic goal against Italy in the Euro 2020 final, England’s first goal in a major final since 1966.

United fans are hoping Trippier will be assisting similar goals for Shaw in Manchester, but it appears Atletico are unwilling to part with the former Spurs and Burnley defender.

Trippier has come on leaps and bounds under the mentorship of manager Diego Simeone, who is keen to maintain the backbone of his Atletico side that won La Liga last season.

It is believed United have seen an offer of £20 million rejected by the 11-time La Liga champions who see no need to sell a player who has two years left on his contract and is in his 30s.
